We believe in keeping data collection to an absolute minimum. This Privacy Policy outlines how we process, protect, and handle data when you browse our registry or contribute datasets.
1. Spam & Bot Protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)
To secure our contribution forms and prevent automated spam or malicious bot submissions, this website integrates Cloudflare Turnstile.
Turnstile is deployed in Managed Mode. It automatically evaluates browser integrity in real-time and determines the appropriate action based on visitor risk levels. While most verification completes invisibly with zero interruption, visitors flagged with higher risk levels may be prompted to click a visible checkbox to verify they are human. During this process, Cloudflare collects and processes specific data signals, which include:
- Your device IP address.
- Browser user-agent, headers, and device configuration profiles.
- SSL/TLS connection fingerprints and active sitekeys.
These security signals are evaluated solely to identify and block automated script abuse, ensuring the integrity of our dataset. This data is not harvested for user profiling, advertising, or cookie tracking purposes. For further legal information, please refer directly to the official Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
2. Privacy-Friendly Analytics (Umami)
We measure engagement and analyze overall usage trends using Umami Analytics. Umami is a privacy-first, open-source analytics platform.
- No Cookies: It does not generate, store, or write permanent cookies to your browser.
- No Tracking: It does not track users across external sites or create persistent browser profiles.
- Anonymized Data: All metric gathering is aggregated and fully anonymized. No personally identifiable details are collected.
3. Form Submissions & Data Contributions
When you submit a dataset via our Contribution Form, we collect the bibliographic details, your uploaded files, and your contact email address.
Your email address is processed strictly to contact you if clarifications or corrections to the dataset are needed during review. Your email is treated as private metadata and will not be published or made publicly visible in the database registry once approved.
Your Rights & Contacts
If you have contributed a dataset and wish to modify its contents, request deletion of your data, or have any general security questions, please contact Kathrin Spettel at: kathrin.spettel@hcw.ac.at
